First Tasting Note!
Bought a bottle based on FTLOP 2015 awards.
Bottled 2013.
Deep amber in color. Complex aromatics akin to a dried fruit compote--dried figs, dates, honey, and orange citrus zest. Pronounced alcohol, but not hot. Light menthol.
Silky texture, soft tannins. Substantial, rounded warming alcohol. Alcohols are pleasant, not hot.
Figs, honey, dates and orange citrus play well together with a touch of caramel & toasted hazelnut near the finish. Mouthwatering, medium-long elegant finish.
It's a fairly complex 20 year tawny that could be spectacular with a slight enhancement of the caramel and toasted hazelnut character.
92 points
