Monday night report:
2 days ago I had the most splendid evening
![Friends [friends.gif]](./images/smilies/friends.gif)
good friends and brothers in Port.
14 bottles on the official record. All in the range from 1935 to 1948 - and mostly VP's.
For starters three blind decanters were put on the table. One of them was the 1900 Niepoort Colheita

to the show....What a start!
Top three of the night: 1935 Taylor, 1948 Taylor and the 1937 Niepoort. Warre 45, and surprisingly the Andresen following close by.
The Fonsecas where a bit dissapointing! The 43'er couldnt be scored, and the 45'er was not up to play either. I must say, that one of the highlights of the evening (beside the fun guys and girls attending - and the fabulous dinner) was when our host didnt want to hear more complaining at the table.....Wupti....He went for another Fonseca 1945! So much better than the first, But still a long way to that hyped place where Fonsecas belong.
In short, the VP's where tired!
We had many from the huge year of 1945, but they should have been drunk 15 years ago.
In fact, the Colheita from Niepoort and the 1945 Tawny from Andresen (20YO) proved to me, that aging in a barrel isnt so bad after all!! Later during dinner we injoyed a Dow's Colheita 1992 and a special VP-edition also from Dow's from the year of 1964.
One great night! I am allready looking forward to our next gathering in september, I promise You! This tasting is going to be insane...
All the Best from MacAllan
