I'm not sure about others but I know I would feel blessed to have had any of those on that list let alone all of them. Have fun!

Certainly looks like a fantastic lineup; F43 and F45 side by side, and W45 (which I've only had once, sadly a faulty bottle) would be my highlights in advance. Hope you have a high rate of bottles showing well.

If I had to choose just one to drink from that line-up, I wonder what I would go for?

I'm pretty sure I would gravitate towards the '45 Fonseca. However, it's an envious position to be in.

Monday night report:
2 days ago I had the most splendid evening [friends.gif] good friends and brothers in Port.
14 bottles on the official record. All in the range from 1935 to 1948 - and mostly VP's.
For starters three blind decanters were put on the table. One of them was the 1900 Niepoort Colheita
[welcome.gif] to the show....What a start!

Top three of the night: 1935 Taylor, 1948 Taylor and the 1937 Niepoort. Warre 45, and surprisingly the Andresen following close by.

The Fonsecas where a bit dissapointing! The 43'er couldnt be scored, and the 45'er was not up to play either. I must say, that one of the highlights of the evening (beside the fun guys and girls attending - and the fabulous dinner) was when our host didnt want to hear more complaining at the table.....Wupti....He went for another Fonseca 1945! So much better than the first, But still a long way to that hyped place where Fonsecas belong.
In short, the VP's where tired!
We had many from the huge year of 1945, but they should have been drunk 15 years ago.
In fact, the Colheita from Niepoort and the 1945 Tawny from Andresen (20YO) proved to me, that aging in a barrel isnt so bad after all!! Later during dinner we injoyed a Dow's Colheita 1992 and a special VP-edition also from Dow's from the year of 1964.
One great night! I am allready looking forward to our next gathering in september, I promise You! This tasting is going to be insane...
All the Best from MacAllan

Thanks for the recap Allan! Sounds like an incredible evening. Glad most of the wines were enjoyable, even if a few left something to be desired.

Never had those 2 Taylors but 37 Niepoort is a perfect wine I can just immagine!!! Andresen is definitively one of the best Colheita producers from Gaia that we don't speak enough of!

I thought you preferred colheitas Allan

Very impressive line-up, though I think my rookie palate and experience (nor wallet) wouldn't allow me to appreciate just how insane these ports you collected actuality are. Not yet at least.

Was this a private gathering or the 1981 club, as I do recognise a few faces on the pictures that were put on Facebook?
