As I stated before : If this is genuine fortified wine from Douro, without the IVDP seal, it would have to be sold as Vinho Generoso to be legal. I've tasted a few of those, some were indeed quite good!

So have I. What is odd, as has been stated, is these are listed as being from 2 different producers, using similar packaging and a lot of different vintages.

So here is a summary of what I've learned from my inquires.

- I can't seem to locate anyone so far who's ever heard of either of these two producers.

- If by some stroke they are real, hard to believe they haven't been topped up with a lot of things over the years. (Translation, who knows what's really in the bottle)

- In the words of one producer I spoke to "These are a big bet"

I will let you draw your own conclusions about these.

If we need to get the IVDP involved, I have some solid sources there. Let me know.

At this point, given that I believe this is the same auction house that recently did sell fake bottles I would recommend letting the IVDP know so they can look into it.

Did anything come of this discussion? Did the IVDP get informed?
