Gewürztraminer is a favorite grape of mine. Dry, off dry, or with varying degrees of botrytis. One of the main differences I have found between Alsatian and California is the mineral presence in the French wines. It is abundant here along with lots of Pineapple, Lychee, Guava, Mango. Very smooth, buttery mouth feel (another difference) decent acidity and not to sweet. I served it with Pineapple upside down cake and I think it was better off on it's own. I'm thinking this is really enjoyable right now and over the next decade, beyond that I'm not sure if there is enough acidity to keep it in balance. 91pts
Edit: The next day at lunch I paired this with some duck rillettes , aged gouda and green olives. Perfection and enhanced the experience of both. Also noticed quite a bit of tartaric acid crystals in the bottom of the glass. Nice to see.
