On election night on Tues., the world is watching and waiting to see, who will be the next POTUS here in America.

What Port will you be opening that night?

Anything with lots of alcohol to stop the pain before it starts....regardless of which gets it. Lol.

I'm thinking cask strength whiskey... or tequila...

Port is today. Some friends are coming over but I haven't figured out what to open yet.

For Dorene and I, likely a magnum of something. [beg.gif]

None. This tragedy is a night for sober reflection.

I have a “special bottle of wine” that will be either bittersweet or celebratory. All I can say is that the vineyard is from Virginia… [beg.gif]

I have moved this to the, now, more appropriate forum as there is no way this will stay Port focused. Play nice and have at it.

No port here, either. All I will say is that I had a bottle of 2008 vintage of a CdP, and the producer's initials are DOH. Seemed apropos. At least the bottle performed.

As for my Port, I had a glass of leftover 1994 Vesuvio. :)

This was a Port related discussion. I personally have edited or deleted all inappropriate politically charged posts. Like it or not, we are just not "going there" here!

It was not the spirit of the thread and is never going to be acceptable on this Forum. And right now, I have ZERO tolerance for this. :scholar:

It has been 9 years since I've done this ... but sorry folks, I thought it was clear in my first post.

Well, I hadn't expected the election-night to be so long... I had planned to use it to finish a few half-full bottles that I had still standing around. Started with a 10 year old Tawny from Smith Woodhouse... then worked my way through the 10 year old Malmsley from Blandy's... and because I still wasn't sure who would win, I then had to open a fresh bottle. Hadn't planned for this and was then facing a dilemma. I didn't want to open a really great bottle, as the Gods might have taken that as celebrating too early and would have punished my candidate, but I still wanted something decent... so it was another 10 year old Tawny, this time from Kopke. But finally I went to bed around 2:00 and still wasn't absolutely sure who had won the election... At least I have now a little bit more space in my wine fridge... :)

There's still a couple of nights before every state is finally counted. Time to fit in some more bottles. [cheers.gif]

I actually opened a rum barrel aged imperial pumpkin beer. It seemed appropriate, but was a little flat.
