1963 Fonseca Vintage Port

Post by Eric Menchen »

Corny & Barrow bottling.
Stronger leather and spirit aromas than the previous wines (1929 Cockburn’s Crusted, 1955 Cockburn’s VP, 1963 Ferreira VP). The leather is nice. The spirit, however, is medicinal. There is some tar as well. I’m struggling to get more out of the aroma, but the may be a little orange peel in there. BUT BAM! Lots of fruit in the mouth. Juicy tangy cherry, raspberry, and pear in the background. Thick and almost jammy. Medium finish with fruit and some spirit. 94 points.
