My trip to Porto is getting closer again. If anybody knows any tips regarding Port wine collectables, that would be much appreciated. I am talking about photos, paintings, carved objects etc. Anything Port related really. So if somebody knows a good shop specialized in these things in Porto, please let me know. The most obvious tourist junk however is not what i am after.

Port tongs might be something to pick up. That is not a typical tourist item, but if you drink Port they can be fun.

Thanks, that is something i would consider if i stumbled upon those.

This kind of stuff is what i have in mind. Ginja (ginjinha) related items have my interest too:

Tongs, branded flatware/glassware/porcelain, vintage advertising, or wax capsule stamps are all things I'd look for.

I would like to get wood chips (for my smoker) made from old port barrels... I have the same from Jack Daniels barrels.

I found these this time from A Vida Portuguesa, a shop very close to Lello bookshop. There were some great Sandeman posters too.

Are they originals?

Certainly not. They are high quality prints of 1920's vintage advertising posters for port wines.

I really like some of the silver and pewter goodies that can be found. There are a great deal of silver specialty shops and jewelry shops that have some amazing surprises in their displays, which have nothing to do with what you'd buy your better half. I know where these shops are located but have no idea of the names unless I would check my Visa card records. However, walking to shops from Sao Bento station to Ribeira is chock full of great old family collections. Decanters, neck tags, Port funnels, etc. abound. I hope this never changes!
