1964 Brunheda colheita white port

Post by Rune EG »

Tasted at Brunheda during 2016 FTLOP Harvest Tour in September. Brought home a cask sample.
Decanted 1 hr (which was sufficient). Bright medium brown colour. Aroma of citrus, wet wood, humid cellar and some caramel. Full body. Powerful and elegant/silky taste in a dimension that is rarely found. Taste is showing herbs, fresh citrus acidity (which is balancing well the sweet undertones in this white port). Furthermore caramel and preserved pears. Towards the end there are spices, mint and well integrated nice tannins, which is clearly showing themselves! A never ending aftertaste so nice and so difficult to forget. The best white port ever tasted. 98 pts.

Sounds stellar. I am glad you got to experience it Rune.

I wonder if I will ever get a chance to taste this myself.

Another 1964 White! Very nice, Rune. Thanks for the note - now I'm going to have to visit Brunheda so that I can get some!

They don't have a visitor's center nor welcome guests. That being said, I think Rune forgot the request to not mention that Port. [dash1.gif]

It is certainly not for sale, Glenn. Sorry. :scholar:
