TN: 2011 Niepoort Redoma Douro red

Have tried three bottles with decanting times 3 hrs, 2 hrs and 1.5 hr and concluded that 1.5 hrs is sufficient. Dark red colour with a light rim. Pleasant aroma of berries, oak and minerals/soil in a typical Douro way. Full to medium body. Powerful taste of fruit and minerals, and also quite elegant. Very nicely structured Douro red which is keeping its “personality” throughout the time it is be tasted/consumed. Also nice balance acidity/sweetness. In my opinion several of the Niepoort Douro reds can have too much acidity, but this one is well balanced. Long aftertaste. 93 pts.
