Purchased from Premier Cru in the summer of 2015. Opened for the 1st meeting of the Sammamish Port Club.
1976 Krohn Colheita
bottled in 2015
Color: Deep tawny, but not especially dark. No brown in it... just a lot of depth to the tawny color.
Nose: Spirity, oaky, with some caramel and vanilla. Tangy apricot as well.
Palate: Great acidity. Vanilla, slightly caramelized sugar. Roasted nuts. Someone said black tea... sure, I can get that. Really fantastic. One of the better bottles of this that I've had, and consistent with other 2015 bottles.
Score: 96 points. I started out a point higher, but it didn't hold up well with time in the glass. It's possible (probable, even) that the next Port (S. Leonardo 60 Year White) affected my perception when I returned to this glass later, but I ultimately decided that 96 was the right score.
