2003 Pintas (Wine & Soul) Vintage port

Post by Rune EG »

Have not tasted this port for the last four years, as I have kept the bottles in the cellar through the closed phase. This vintage port is now 13.5 years and I wanted test out the situation. It is still getting a nice score, but I will wait another 2-3 years before further bottles are being opened.

Decanted 8 hrs. Very little sediments at opening. Deep dark purple colour, nearly black. Fresh subdued aroma of dark red berries with minerals being evident. Hints of tea leaves and some indications of cherry and dark chocolate. Full body. Relatively “big” young vintage port. Powerful, elegant, fruity all the way, some tannins in the last half of the taste. Indications of tea leaves and minerals. Long fruity aftertaste. I believe this 2003 Pintas is having the potential to develop very nicely in the years to come. 94 pts.
