As Andy is now aware, a few weeks ago I received an email invite from SFE, (actually their company-owned US importer, PPW) which told me which ports had been declared and had their logos in the email too. SFE principals we're coming to several US cities to present their Ports from the 2015 vintage along with some older vintages. They've done this many times in the past. Obviously there has been a change of mind since that first email; and so I stand corrected as it looks like they are now leaning towards 2016 for their main brands. Apologies for any confusion.

Edited to make more sense, as I typed the original message while on a return home from the other coast, on the plane ... a minute before we took off.

Taylor's and Dow's are both releasing this year and will be shipped in the end of the fall.
I think people will be suprised by the pricing (under €50 a bottle)

James Suckling has rated 5 of the Symington VPs'
https://www.jamessuckling.com/wine-tast ... tage-port/

I am not a subscriber myself. Perhaps one inhere could tell us the point he gave out, if that is fair?

Bear in mind that if Suckling is financially reliant on people paying to read his opinions, he is going to be very sensitive to copyright breaches..

Copying tasting notes is not allowed i guess, but i don't think mentioning numbers out a 100 is. What do you guys think?

Strictly speaking, the whole thing is probably copyright. However, Suckling will know that anything that draws people's attention to his site is going to be good for him, so the proper way forward is for someone who already subscribes to his site (- I don't..) to drop him an email requesting permission to reproduce his scores, but not his notes, with a link to his site attached to the piece.

I'd be surprised if he refused..

While it doesn't help us now, by the time they go to retail, I would guarantee that those scores are all over the web on retailer sites and wine-searcher. Then, just like his Bordeaux and Italian scores, you can subtract 5 across the board and end up with a number somewhat close to what the rest of us might assign .

Well, here's an except from Suckling's website which suggests a lack of knowledge to me:
These [2015] declared wines, which are mostly blends, are generally more complete vintage Ports.
Um, aren't they all blends, as required by the IVDP regulations?

I quote Suckling as part of a critique, in a limited fashion, and thus should be covered by fair use doctrine of copyright law.

They already are.

I have the scores which he gave to:

Graham's Stone Terrace
Quinta do Vesuvio
Cockburn
Dow's Senhora da Ribeira
Niepoort

If you are dying to know for some reason, you can PM me. I only have the points, not the notes.
