Opening and sharing a special bottle or three with friends?

I need to open something really good. It has been too long!

The 2017 BBQ season kicks off this weekend, so I'll be taking a bottle of Port up to Canada to share with my BBQ buddies!

I haven't picked the bottle yet... what should I take?

I might buy a magnum of something nice if I hit it big at the craps table in Vegas this week.

Glenn how about a Wiese & Krohn pre 1976?

I get home in about three days from Nepal. Haven't had Port or Madeira for almost a month. I'll need to remedy that.

Doing a 2011-LBV tasting with six people tonight.
Following seven LBVs will be tasted and ranked:
Graham's, Taylor's, Portal, Crasto, Quevedo, Kopke and Quinta de la Rosa.
Those were the 2011 LBVs available at the wine monopoly.
Many of the other producers (such as f.ex. Niepoort) had already changed to 2012, and therefore not included.

Will report the results.

Two weeks from today, my friend!

Results from last evening''s blind tasting of seven 2011 LBVs:
The clear winner was Kopke, followed by Crasto and Taylor's.

I have tasted a lot of Kopke colheitas, but I do not think I have ever tasted a Kopke LBV.
It was a pleasant surprise.
Kopke has for years sold a ruby in Norway, and that is very simple stuff.
But the step up to LBV was significant.

Wow, that's some nice tasting. I've been lucky enough to have the G52c a few times, but not the Graham's 90 - how did you find it by comparison?
