Grahams Malvedos vs. Graham Quinta dos Malvedos VP

I opened a bottle of Grahams Malvedos 1964 over the weekend.
When I checked the TN database, I see two groupings:
- Grahams Malvedos Vintage Port
- Graham Quinta dos Malvedos Vintage Port

Are there actually two different labels over the years? Or is there a single label that got split up by accident?

Besides curiosity, I want to add my TN to the right section!

Cheers,

They are the same, prior to the late 90's it wasn't a single Quinta. Hence the name change then when it became so (the short version)

Thanks Andy.

Excuse me if this is a silly question, I'm being anal and just want to get my TN's in the right spot.
I see entries in the TN database from the 1960's though 2009 for both wordings.
For the '64 I recently opened, should TN's go in a particular section, or go by what the bottle label says?

Thx!

Prior to about 1991 (I don't remember the exact date) the TNs should all be just Malvedos. After that, they should all be Quinta dos Malvedos.

But just go with what it says on the label.

Perfect, thanks!

From the VPID I can see labels up to and including 1996 say only Malvedos, while 1998 onward have Quinta dos Malvedos.

Interestingly there seems to be different labels for the same vintage of Malvedos. To wit, the label shown for the 1965 Malvedos is not like the one on my bottle. It has what I believe is the arched gate of the Malvedos vineyard at the top of the label, and that gate, with the year 1890, was introduced on the centenary for the 1990 Malvedos. Therefore it must be a later release from Graham's. My '65 label resembles the one on Mike's '64 label as in the photograph.

Oh, and thanks Mike for the tasting note. Hopefully my '65 will as nice.

Cheers ...................... Mahmoud.

That is not uncommon for many vintage ports. I have bottles both from similar purchase time, both imported to Boston with different labels; Different importers.

It's very common for later released Ports and those (mostly older ones) with different importers/bottlers. Bottles are not all labeled at first. Those held back for a possible late release are commonly called "Shiners" as they are not labeled until they are sent out. Often the labels have changed 10+ years later.
