Having tasted this previously only once, and that was at Crasto as part of the 2011 FTLOP Harvest Tour. I had my birthday at 10th May when visiting Crasto this May, and this wine was offered. I was of course thrilled.

Decanted 2 hrs (partly before and partly during dinner). Dark red with a light rim. Deep complex and wonderful aroma of terroir, leather, berries and oak. This was one of the best Douro red aromas I have experienced.
Full to medium body. Powerful and elegant, tannins in pleasant combination with oak and berries. During the decanting time, it became more softer and acidity came more in background. Medium length aftertaste. A Douro red with great “personality”. 95 pts.

Four hour decant for this wine works wonders. :scholar:

I've opened two in recent months and found that I was not giving it enough air time, with the first bottle. More is better and four hours was perfect for full integration. Your score is spot on and I appreciate your impressions.

I've had a number of these upper tier older Crasto's recently and they still need a long decant to really show their best. 4 hours is usually my minimum starting point. Prefer closer to 6-8
