During visit at Crasto in May this years I met winemaker Manuel Lobo and we had an interesting discussion regarding the 2014 vintage. Both for Douro red and vintage port. I understood that 2014 was one of the more challenging years that he had experienced at Crasto. He offered my wife and me to taste the 2014 Vinha da Ponte, which we appreciated a lot.

Decanted abt 1 hr. Medium to dark purple colour with a light rim. Deep aroma dominated by oak and terroir. Full to medium body. The taste had a fresh start with oak/minerals integrated well with the berries. Well balanced acidity/freshness. Appeared naturally as very young, and needs many years in the cellar in order to to reach prime level. As it was now: 93 pts
