1987 Kopke Colheita Port

I opened this bottle to celebrate our 30th Anniversary with dinner at the Purple Cafe in Bellevue.
1987 Kopke Colheita
Bottled 2013
Color: Tawny with reddish-orange highlights. Looks remarkably young for a 30-year old colheita. There's still a lot of deep orange and even some hints of red to the color.
Nose: High-toned vanilla, confectioner's sugar, and a grain something like oatmeal. Slight spirit as well. Faint whiff of apple pie.
Palate: Creamy entry followed by moderately tart apricot. Caramel, candied lemon, and very light brown sugar. Rich, especially in the mid and late palate. The net effect is a bit like very faint cream cheese icing on a carrot cake, including the Christmas spices in the cake.
Finish: Good length, slightly bitter edge. Resolves to apple seeds.
Score: 94 points. Was better on the first day, which is the score I've given. On day 2 I'd drop a point. Paired very well with the Purple Cafe's Bananas Foster Bread Pudding.
