1997 Sandeman Vau Vintage Port

Aromas of raspberry, and darker berry fruit, with tar, some wood, and slight spirit. Spirit here might have some VA. Lots of tannins--most of any wine tasted thus far. (This was #11 in a 1997 VP tasting.) There might be some potential here. Warmth and cocoa on the finish. Flavors of cherry, peach and pit, boysenberry, raspberry, and tartness not quite to currant level, lingonberry? 91 points.

Now how is this pronounced, ROY?

I love this port and actually have it rated 2-3 points higher than you. As did Glenn as I recall.

This is truly one of the best QPR from that year in my mind.

I've had 1/2 bottles, regular, mags, and even double mags of this. The last double mag was in June of this year. All are now showing fully mature. With the smaller sizes more so than the double mags. None the less this is still a nice port and can usually be found at good prices.
