NV Dona Antonia Reserva Tawny -- aged in oak

I'd seen this label many times over the years, (well, since around 1756) but never bought it before. I have allergies and can't smell too well, but I'd agree with the label--aroma of very ripe fruit, plums, like when you're getting ready to make wine. A nice reddish-brown cherry color, transparent. It has a dark flavor--maybe cherry & fig, not a table wine flavor at all. Slight woody bite--nice, as it's sweet, even at 20% abv. Not much tannin, until after a few hours a tannic astringency comes out. I was going to say put it on your 'do taste' list, but after several glasses that astringency becomes cloying and annoying. It's not complex or intriguing, but is enjoyable.

My parents had a bottle of this open when I visited in August, so I got to try a glass (or two...). My memory agrees with your note - it's fairly simple with wood-induced notes. Pleasant, drinkable, but nothing to write home about. It's main plus is that it's a Tawny Reserve, so QPR is decent due to the low price.

At my parents' house? No telling. Could have been anywhere from 1 week to many months, and I didn't think to ask. Mom does have a glass of Port fairly regularly, though, and this was the only bottle open so my guess would be less than a month.
