2011 Kopke LBV port

Post by Rune EG »

Decanted 2 hrs (2.5 hrs is optimal). Deep dark red colour with a light rim. Fresh pleasant aroma of dark berries, herbs and minerals with distant background of acidity. Medium body. Elegant and at start and quite “big” to be a LBV (in spite of not being full body). Plenty of fruit, tannins are there in an acceptable way and acidity being more evident towards the end. Taste is having hints of dark chocolate with cherry flavour. Short to medium length aftertaste. 87 pts.

"(in spite of not being full body)"
Can I understand this to mean that it is filtered?

This LBV was filtered.
Most LBVs of that age is giving a fruity impression at first taste, but this one had an even bigger fruity impression.
However, throughout the taste it was (in my opinion) a medium body LBV, and thereby giving different impressions at start and when drinking.
