1985 Warre Vintage Port

Post by Eric Menchen »

Spirited aroma with leather, orange, and oddly, some stem–not just grape, but other plant stem too. There is plenty of acid, decent red fruit, and lots of warmth in the throat. Compared to the 1980 Warre VP just tasted, this has more of the classic subtle Warre’s character that reminds me of the 1977. This is improving with time, with orange and strawberry flavors, and the warmth is becoming more tame. 91 points.

I've not had the '85 Warre's in a number of years, and since I have a few more, I really do appreciate appreciate the update Eric. Sounds like it could use more time but since I have five bottles I just may be tempted to try another one soon enough.

Cheers .................. Mahmoud.

Sounds good. I had some concerns about this wine a few years ago. I'll have to dig into my stash and see what's happening. [cheers.gif]
