For The Love Of Port

I never heard of this house before and there are limited notes here. Was in Pennsylvania out to dinner and the 10 Year Tawny and the 2010 LBV were on the menu--had a long discussion with the manager about these two culminating in him bringing two opened bottles for me to sample each. The LBV was OK but it was clear the bottle had been opened awhile--seemed a little simple and too sweet but still I caveat this impression and need to try again. The 10 Year was a fresh bottle, and I was rather surprised at how nice it was, certainly in the better half of the draw of 10 year olds. I took no notes and too much conversation to pay total attention, but thoroughly enjoyed in this setting.

I had never heard of them either. Their website was easy enough to find:

But while it has a photo that shows some Port, in my quick perusal I could only find information on their non-fortified wines (and olive oil, etc.). They are located in the Douro Superior, but in the photos I don't see "Quinto da" on the Port labels, so I'm guessing they source grapes from other locations.

I saw the bottles and am pretty sure it said "Quinta da"...wish I had taken a photo. These ports are at a city club my Mother belongs to...sure I will get a chance to taste again and then I'll try to do a better job with notes and a photo.

I looked at the website too, and could find nothing on Ports.

While I've seen this label for some years now, I don't think I've had it except maybe at a trade tasting or two. Will need to go back through my old notes and see if I have.

Oh, and it is Quinta da Sequeira

This is a very interesting quinta as they are producing both ports and a wide range of Douro wines.
The quinta is located fairly close to Ramos Pinto's Ervamoira in Douro Superior.

I have posted tasting notes here at FTLOP for the 1982 Colheita, 20 years tawny and 2008 Grande Reserva Douro red. Also had a bottle of their Douro rosé. The 1982 Colheita I have had several times and seems to be steady around 92-93 pts.
Have earlier this year purchased a 1970 Colheita. Will find and post a tasting note fairly soon.

I would like to explore more into this quinta. Do they have US-representative?

In the UK I've seen the wines from the Sequeira family marketed under the brand name Quinta da Sequierinha. I've only tried the White, the Tawny and the 2011 LBV. The LBV was nice enough, but very middling in quality terms.
