1980 Warre Vintage Port

Post by Eric Menchen »

This has a cooked vegetable flavor. This still has lots of fruit, and there are plenty of tannins, but the oxidation just kills this serving. 88 points.

This was at the Graham's lodge in Vila Nova de Gaia, in one of the tasting rooms. Three days later I would have this wine again at Quinta do Bomfim, and that serving scored 94+ points. This was definitely an off pour.

Perhaps it had been open too long at the bar?

That certainly would be a possibility, but I'd like to think they have decent turnover there.
