A Question Pertaining to Ferreira Labels

I recently bought a few bottles of Ferreira Vintage Port and am now surprised to see that there appears to be two different labels for this port. One is a light, cream-coloured label, the other is black, as pictured below. My bottles have the cream-coloured labels

What is the story behind the different labels, is it different markets, separate bottlings, or something else? Would be interested in any information.
Cheers ................... Mahmoud.

The cream colored one is the old original label on original release. The other is the newer style label so I'd assume it was a later release by the winery.

Personally, I prefer the original cream-colored label.

Besides changing the label in what seems to be around 1997 as per your pictures, they also changed the bottle from the old one with square shoulders to a taller version.
I have had the 1985 (which is drinking great now) and I also recently got the 1987, both in the old bottle version. However the 1991 is the same type bottle as the 1994 and 1997. So they must have changed it somewhere in between of 1989 and 1993 when they did the bottling.

Clever, and funny. I like it. Wish I knew but all my bottles are the same.
Interestingly, my 1996 Fereira LBVs have the black livery, whereas from the responses above it seems that the change may have come with the 1997 vintage. I also prefer the older label as well as the older, squat bottle.

My 85 Ferreira's have a different label but same squat bottle. Will grab a picture and post when I can.
