1978 Kopke Colheita Port

Post by Eric Menchen »

(Bottled 2017.) This has a brandy spirit aroma. There is lots of acidity, but not as much else flavor-wise to balance things out in the mouth. It is improving a little with time. 92 points. (24 Sep 17)

Side note #1: I thought this might have suffered having been tasted right after 30 and 40 year old tawnies, but checking my notes, I also scored this 92 points several years earlier when tasted on its on.

Side note #2: In my written notes, after the bottling year, I also have written "(155)". I don't recall for sure what this is, but there is a good chance this was the bottling date. On the capsule of a Sogevinous bottle you can find printed the year and a number which is the Julian date of the year, 155 being the 4th of June in 2017.
