2015 Niepoort Vintage Port

Bottled 2017 (Tasted November 2017 at the Port Wine Festival at Boersen, Copenhagen Denmark)

The bouquet offers a strong scent of dark berries, spices, alchohol and a little smoke. I the mouth good berries, fresh, powerful and with some tannins.
The full-bodied wine tastes damn well even though it is just bottled - maybe a little too good to be true. The question is whether it has storage potential.

Despite the young age it already feels very harmonious. Seems like a real bargain for the wine storage! Very dark red with violet rim.

Jan,
Thanks for the note on this youngster. Just curious, what does this cost in your country?

Hi Jan,

I really like to understand what this (bolded section) means, in your tasting note:

The full-bodied wine tastes damn well even though it is just bottled - maybe a little too good to be true.

Dear Roy

When I write "maybe a little too good to be true" I mean that when a port wine is as comfortable
and drinkable as this one, it may be a wine that is very early drinkable and not a wine You want to
save as it peaks pretty quickly. Normally, we prefer to store wines which matures slowly because it gives the best flavors and character in the end.
(Well, I may be wrong).

Best Wishes
Jan

Thanks, I am glad that was what you meant, not what I read into your note. More importantly, this one is ridiculously easy to drink right away when opening the bottle. The tannins came out and showed the age-ability of the Niepoort, the more time the bottle was open. Especially on day 3. As you had this likely in a pop and pour scenario at a wine fair, you would not have noticed the tannins, which become prevalent later on.
