Just curious... does anybody know if Quinta do Vesuvio is open to the public? Any way to tour the estate?

Generally speaking, no it's not open to the public. However, The historic train wine dinner thing did stop there for a short tasting. As far as I know that the only sorta-public time it's been open. Not sure if the train wine dinner thing is still running or not.

Although the house is not open to the public, there are a number of footpaths and public roads which cross the estate so it is possible to catch the train to the Vesuvio station and then hike to the top of the hills for a picnic or just to take in the view.

And then you can hike back down to the station and do the same thing at Vargellas.

True....pack a good lunch and plenty of water. That's a long steep hike up to the top. [d_training.gif]
