Decanted 6.5 hrs which appeared to work well. Some sediments. Deep purple colour. Powerful aroma of red berries, still with impressions of young fruit. Some minerals and hints of herbs. Medium to full body. Powerful and smooth taste at start with a lot of fruit. Tannins are coming on in a significant way, but as they are a bit “polished” they are acceptable. Some dryness towards the end and including tiny bit pepper/spirit and hints of anis. Good balance acidity/sweetness and good structure. Medium length aftertaste. 92 pts.

A bit of a lower score compared to earlier showings of this. Do you think this is in a closed or awkward stage right now?

I was a bit surprised myself that the score did not go higher.
92 pts is still very good, but for Fonseca and 2003 I would have expected higher.
Going to try bottle another during the winter and will see whether there are bottle variations.

Thanks. Look forward to seeing how the next one shows.
