1985 Kopke Colheita

Bottled 2015. Opened 2 hours. Burnt orange brown, crystal clear, moderate weight. Tossed off just a hint of caramel, when first opened there was a plethora of aromas but two hours later the nose is quite muted. Little flavors of vanilla and pralines but finishes with an orange note. The finish is quite extended, very long--it slides so easily. Overall, this is quite delicate and muted compared. While quite nice, it does not have the depth of other older Kopke colheitas. The next day I had a little left and it has evolved to a more rounder wine. Loads of pralines and cashews with a hint of caramel. The finish is still quite extended but the orange is mostly gone. While I miss the orange, it is better on the 2nd day.
