1955 Sandeman Vintage Port

Post by Eric Menchen »

Tasted blind in a flight of seven 1955 VPs. This is also one of the three lightest in the tasting, along with what were revealed later to be Warres and Dow. This has a pleasant, herbaceous aroma, with a little tarragon, along with dried fruit roll-up, of red fruit like raspberry and strawberry. Later there was some wood and leather. There is some warmth in the mouth, pleasantly integrated. The flavor still has fruit, light cherry, cherry Sucrets, and some nice acid. 93 points. Later it tasted of candied fruit, and aromas of minty menthol, peppermint, and even cream cheese frosting showed up. Quite a nice showing for a fairly developed wine.
