Quarles Harris 10 Year Tawny

Post by John M. »

I was down in Florida for a week and picked up a QH 10 Year, bottled 2016 as well as a 2012 Taylor LBV. I've had QH10 a few times before and consistently rated it in the 85-88 range and never that impressed. We were drinking very casually and I did not take any great notes, but this came off much better than I remembered. Nose was a little spicy, with the flavor profile of walnuts, pralines with a nice finish that offers up a note of maple. Moderate viscosity. It was served chilled and really delightful---I give it 89 Points. Obviously this is a new blend, being bottled in 2016. Maybe they upped their game---looking for another. As to the Taylor LBV, very enjoyable. Took no notes day one, and by the next day it was gone (I think my son is getting hooked).
Any Port in a storm!
