1970 Taylor’s vintage port

Post by Rune EG »

Decanted 6 hrs, which appeared to be perfect. Cork was soaking wet. In spite of using the Durand, the lower 1/5 of the cork remained in bottle. However, this small part came out easily. Medium red colour with a touch of brown. Deep wonderful aroma of oak, minerals, herbs and prunes. Hints of tobacco and dust. Full body. Powerful and super elegant. Fruit and oak in fantastic harmony, and in nice combination with raisins, raspberry, minerals, herbs and anis. Nice perfect tannins and not too sweet. A vintage port which we described as dignified. Long aftertaste where the anis is easy to notice. This bottle was really in superb condition. Highest score for me for a vintage port. 97 pts.
