(Bottled 2004) Tasted blind. Aroma has spirit, mint, cinnamon, brandy, and then herbs. It is slightly musty, but not stinky. Smoky! Tastes of cola nut, maple sugar with brandy, caramel, and toffee. It has very refreshing acidity, much nicer than the 1885 DR. I love this--the acidity is great. Guessed to be a 60+ year old colheita. 98+ points. Later, it had a sweet, candied, concentrated maple aroma. After that, the empty glass smelled of baked chocolate brownie.

I kept the empty, it was certainly a very special and rare Port. The visit itself was top drawer and our winemaker host was fabulous and she is a heck of a talent! The quantity of old Ports we had on that tour may have set a record.

And it was an interesting label as well. I would have kept it too.

Can you post a picture of the label/bottle?

I see from my own notes that I gave it 97 points; from memory, I recall the tragedy of Roy noting, at the table, that we would never know the producer.

Cool label. Were these bottles the same time as those 60's whites were?
