1987 + 1997 Quinta do Javali colheita/tawny port

This quinta is having a rising market in Denmark. At the recent large port event in Roskilde, Denmark, they presented a blend of 1987 colheita and 1997 colheita. It became very popular and was sold out very fast. My wife and I liked it a lot. The Danish representative has imported a 2nd batch of 240 bottles and I purchased 6 btls which we got few days ago. As you will see from the enclosed picture the label is stating: “2018 special edition for Denmark”. I am not sure whether tawny or colheita is the correct description, so I am using both.
Bottled March 2018. Decanted 2 hrs. Tiny bit deposits. Clear brownred colour. Heavy aroma of citrus, herbs and something burnt. Full body. Probably the roughest tawny/colheita I have tasted. In spite of this, there was a wonderful elegance. Really a mouthful. Taste showing a very nice combination of citrus, minerals, oak and herbs. Latter in more “quantity” than in most tawny/colheita-ports. Also, something burnt like in the aroma. Tannins are quite strong, but still being polished. Well-balanced acidity/sweetness. Long aftertaste with a touch of bitterness. 95 pts.
