So why the big drop in Douro wines?

Here and in Europe...Andy Velebil wrote:So why the big drop in Douro wines?
Portuguese wine in general has to be up in the US. Stores around here are pushing it strong; in the under $20 bottle price range.

Re: Facts/stats on sales of Port & Douro wines in the USA
From the 4 importers that I speak with on a fairly regular basis on the west coast and two on the other coast that mainly handle Portuguese wines, they are all having an extraordinary year in 2018. Whether that is due to 2015 and 2016 Vintage Ports, I don't know. But they all feel that the table wines of Portugal are quite strong compared to any previous year and that it is a growing area for them and since B&M shops and a few online retailers that do a bang up job w/wines of Portugal, it is no longer just Douro wines that are moving the market. Great news for the country. It should be very interesting to see how 2018 stacks up against the 2017 sales.
