My favorite Sauternes up for auction

But when might I open a 6 L bottle?

I am amused by the bottle condition report that indicates there is writing on the label. That writing is the signature of Christian Seely!

That's a big bottle of very sweet nectar. While us Port nerds could easily drink a 6L of Port, I'd dare guess very few people could do so for Sauternes. Unless it's a huge group of people. Even serious French wine drinkers I know rarely drink more than a couple glasses of Sauternes in one sitting.

There is a reason for so many half bottles produced...

Agreed. I took a magnum of Sauternes to a very large wine tasting party and it was plenty.

I tend to forget about Sauternes as an after dinner or pre-dinner wine. Have enough of them. Should include them more often!
