2004 Quinta do Vale Meao vintage port

During period 2011-2015 my wife and I had quite a few of this vintage port. After 3 yrs we wanted to make a check of status and earlier this month we opened a bottle.
A lot of small sediments. Cork in perfect condition. Decanted 7 hrs, but that was an hour too early. Between 7 and 8 hrs it opened up. Dark purple colour. Wonderful fruity aroma of dark red berries and minerals/chist. Full body. Powerful and to some degree also elegant. Especially from the middle and towards the end this vintage port is really being strong. We think that it will need another 5 years before it has “calmed down” and being then (hopefully) a bit more elegant. Long powerful aftertaste. 92 pts.
