Different style stencil than the one I have had in the full bottle. I wonder when it was bottled. No one is buying it at that price I reckon.

I was going to mention the stenciling. I've never seen stenciling like that on Barbeito bottles before.

The wax is also inconsistent with Barbeitos - I have never seen their bottle that would be sealed in a similar way.

For such a big time purchase, I would only buy that from RWC or somewhere else with a strong relationship to Barbeito.

Not to mention the ridiculous price... who would buy from them? A FULL bottle sold at a Zachy's auction this month with a "price realized" of $7410.

I know that Ricardo found a small demijohn with a bit in it last year that his mother stashed. Wondering if this came from that. Will have to ask him.

I believe that the result of the find was two to four bottles, all given to Mannie for his private collection.

The half bottles predate, by a number of years, Ricardo's find last year. I believe. he only was able to bottle four 750's from what was found, He made a special numbered labels and gave them to Mannie for his private collection.

According to Ricardo there are no records that half bottles were ever produced. Ricardo insists they are fake. The small back labels look curiously authentic. With the various fraud in recent years, there has been not been an instance that I am aware of where a new label with graphics was used. And why if one wants to mimic a Barbeito bottle, would you create a all new stencil which would raise suspicion...all very curious. The conquistador is on the early labeled Barbeito bottles. It would be interesting to see which Institute seal (JNV or IVM) is on those and if its the same on the half bottles. I'll have to check another time.
