For The Love Of Port

3 Hour decant. Cork was a crumbling mess but no leakage. Upon opening thought the wine might be flawed but within 20 minutes settled down. Light brick color with a clear meniscus. Slightly sweet nose with just a hint of prune over red fruit and a touch of spirit. Light strawberry flavor, delicate moderate depth. Finished short but with a second finish that extends--quite remarkable this two phase finish.

Thanks for the note John. The '77 Graham's was my very first vintage port purchase along with the '77 Warre's. A local wine purveyer, the late Hank Gillespie, prompted the buy when he said that the prices of the '77 were about to be ramped up and that the prices in New York had already doubled. Still have the bottles, and yes, I should have bought more, but in my defense it was the late 80s and I was just starting my wine collecting. A pair of them seemed like a good idea at the time.
