During the FTLOP Harvest Tour we visited Quinta do Vesuvio and had a wide range of their vintage ports. Two bottles of 1991 were presented there, both of them in the 90s points. Purchased one recently, but that one was unfortunately not close to the two abovementioned bottles.
Decanted 5 hrs. Medium red colour with a distinct touch of brown (also tiny bit cloudy). Aroma on the sweet side, showing berries and “old humid cellar”. Medium to full body. Powerful taste, and also to some degree being elegant. However, there were some sharpness which was negative. Strong tannins. Some anis towards the end. Medium length aftertaste. This particular bottle was on the way to fall apart. 85 pts.
