TN: RWC Historic Series The Library Company

Post by Daniel Fraley »

Dark mahogany color typical of RWC historic series, closer to the Boal in hue. Major heat on the nose even after a week in the decanter. Drank out of a long stem burgundy glass and also a deeper tulip aperitif glass with no noticeable difference.

Heat aside, this blend is one of my favorite historic series to date outside of the Stratford Hall and early Jefferson bottling's. BIG citrus on the palate, balanced, fabulous acidity, long lasting finish (stopped counting after a while). It's lighter in mouthfeel and would drink well in Winter or Summer. It reminded me of the earliest bottling's of the RWC Sercial before the blend changed.

Per MB here's the details:
19%abv
60 cases made
50% Tinta Negra, half 7 years old, lagar crushed, and half 1950s to early 1970s
40% 10-year old-Verdelho
10% 16-year-old Malvasia
