Bottled 2009 = 46 years at the year of bottling. Decanting time 1 hr.
Tiny bit oxidized when decanted, but it did not have much negative effect. Dark brown colour. Aroma dominated by citrus and herbs, but also with wood in the background. Straight after opening there were hints of alcohol, but that faded away after 15-20 minutes. Full body. Powerful and elegant. Actually, more elegance than power. Taste is full of citrus, caramel, burnt sugar. Long aftertaste. 1.5 hr opening time appeared to be optimal for this bottle. After 2 hrs the acidity was “growing”. Three points down from last time May 2014. However, this was a very nice 56 years old colheita, but the extreme greatness when giving 96 pts five years was not there. 93 pts.
