1976 Krohn Colheita

Bottled in 2011. Quite a tawny appearance. Medium dark tan with a very substantial amber rim. Looks quite old. An immediate coffee and sharp lemon nose. Smells really clean. Big thick entry. Mouth filling and smooth. Butter and toffee mid-palate. Somewhat hot finish. Then the secondary flavors (butterscotch and lime) come in on the extremely long finish. Real complexity. Wow! Outstanding Colheita! Other than the bit of heat in the finish, this is an amazing wine. I wish I had more! Better the second day. 96 points.

Still have a couple of these so glad to read it’s hanging in there.

Yeah, these are fantastic. I'd have to look to be sure, but I think I might still have close to a case of these from several different purchases.

Yes, agree!
Quite steady in the quality, highest 96 and lowest 93 according to my notes.
Have 4 left of the 2013-bottling.

I have opened a boatload of this particular Port and along with 1961 and to a lesser degree 1966, put this second in the entire Krohn lineup. I still have 10 down in the cellar but am not going to go through them like I did in 2017 when I opened six that year. Slowing down the spigot as I likely won't buy any more. I had one bottle that was rated 97 which was a way crazy score but a very focused night of tasting. My typical score has been 95-96 points and had one at 94 too. You can never drink enough of this Colheita. My friend Blair has been lucky to have had a half dozen of these from my cellar over the years, as I used to take them to Vancouver just about every year for a while.
