Last bottle of three.
Bottled 2013. Decanted 4 hrs, which was OK. Colour was a bit different than most colheitas/tawnies. A light rim, then medium brown and in the middle nearly black. Aroma of citrus, oak, ripe fruit, nuts and some herbs. Slight alcohol in the background, but that faded away. Full body. Powerful with citrus, oak and minerals.
Although 6 yrs since bottling, this 49-year-old colheita is still appearing quite fresh. Balance acidity/sweetness was OK. Very long aftertaste dominated by burnt sugar and some spices (incl. pepper). 90 pts.

What was keeping this back from a higher score?

It was related to the structure of this port.
Many parts of the port was OK, but the various parts did not fit well enough together to justify f.ex 93-level.

Ah ok. Thanks for the explanation.
