Douro Boys 15th Anniversary Auction

Post by Roy Hersh »

For their 15th Anniversary, the Douro Boys created both a Red Cuvée and a Vintage Port from the young & epic 2017 vintage, blending in all 5 of the original members' wines that make up this project. They'll offer these bottles for sale at an auction both online and in person, that will take place on 10th October, at the luxurious Hotel Six Senses Douro Valley.

Register now to place a bid on any/all of the 50 exclusive lots to be offered. Arrange to attend and place live bids in person. Peter Mansell of Christie's Wine Department in London, will be on hand to orchestrate the auction.

Douro Boys auction took place last night Portuguese time.
All lots sold at prices way above the starting amounts.
Seems that this was a big success for the Douro Boys.

Where do the profits go?

I looked at the catalogue and the Douro Boys website and could find no mention of this. I would expect if there was a charity involved, they would mention it. So I think the answer is that the profits go back to the Douro Boys.

That's what I figure, seeing as it doesn't go to charity.

You can find the auction results here:
https://pt.bidspirit.com/ui/catalog/auc ... /1?lang=en

Although some variations it seems that the magnum bottles of both the vintage port 2017 and the Cuvee red wine 2017 had an average of abt EUR 450 - 500 per bottle

One lot (lot 43 I think?) did go to charity. I presume the rest was split between the producers.

I think it's promote/assist in some type of education for kids in the Douro. That is if my rudimentary translation is correct.
