2011 Ferreira LBV port

Post by Rune EG »

Bottled 2015. Decanted 4.5 hrs (appeared to be insufficient and next bottle will be 8 hrs). A lot of small sediments at decanting. Seldom to see that much sediments in a young LBV. Deep dark red colour. Powerful aroma of berries with oak in the background and hints of something smoked. Full body. Powerful and demanding taste in spite of the fact that it is also smooth. Then minerals and dry fruit. Nice tannins. More acidity than preferred towards the end. Quite strong end of the taste. Long aftertaste. Will try again with much longer decanting time. 90 pts.

I had this wine last year , and I agree with you that it needs a massive decant or another 4-6 years in the cellar.
