1970 Ferriera VP

Post by Eric Menchen »

Red-brown hue, and lighter in color than the previously tasted 1963 Douro Shippers and Growers and 1970 Warres VPs. There is some alcohol warmth in the aroma, along with light dried strawberry, dried leaf spice, cinnamon, and a hint of savory beef broth in the background. Later, the aroma shows some caramel. The flavor is less complex than the aroma, but very nice, making this my favorite of the first three wines. Initially scored 90-91 points, then settled at 91. (10 Jan 20)
