Decanted about 7 hours. The color is very advanced compared to most '97 VP's. The nose had lots of VA when I opened it, which did blow off a little as time went on. But it never went away. The initial sip when I decanted it was very sharp and tangy (which someone else mentioned, I agree with) and loaded with VA. I came close to pouring it down the sink then but decided to see what would happen with a long decant. 7 hours later, the VA subsided just a tiny bit but was still dominate. The sharpness and tanginess also subsided a little but was still prominent. Some stewed red fruit on an otherwise simple body led into an abruptly dried tannic finish. Given how this bottle shows, and other comments on this I've read, I would not hold these any longer. As much as I love Crasto's wines and Ports this is, by a very wide margin, the worst Crasto I've ever had.
