Bottled in 2012. Surprising medium dark orange color. Nose of apricot, coffee, smoke, creme brulee, and just a touch of VA. Complex! Very inviting! On the palate - concentrated and sense for a 20 year old. Very good acidity gives it lift and does support that concentration. Loaded with orange peel, honey, lemon, and maple syrup. An excellent tawny! 92 points.

I've gone through a few Bulas 10 and 20's over the last few years. From my small sample set they have a very unusual / non-standard house style for a Port. Surprising at first but flavorful and quite fun. An open bottle seems to increase significantly in richness and complexity over time. I'm a fan.
Worth keeping in the lineup for the variety and flavors.

I did get the impression that the wine was somewhat closed and would open up the next day or two. Of course 8 years in bottle doesn't help.
